Micro Engineering rail "weathering"

I stand corrected on the shifting rail leaving bare spots bit.  That was in fact, my Atlas track when I moved it after painting it.

Funny thing, though...  Yesterday I was driving through Kearneysville, WV next to the B&O (CSX) and it looked like they are prepping for tie replacement... dots of white spray paint on the rail web over just about every other tie.  Shoulda snapped a picture as yet another example of Ed's Law...

They've done the same thing on the line south from Catlettsburg to Louisa.  In Catlettsburg they used light green paint, which does look odd on a rail.
