Good tru color black paint for steam

I’m about to paint a Western Maryland brass Shay. 

I have some regular black paint but that’s not going to be realistic.
I also have a bottle of oily black (or something like that) but I’m worried it’s not black enough (slightly blown tinge- like grease).

What do you steam heads like for an in service steam loco. This one would be about 5 yrs old (modeling about 1950,  loco new in 1945).

TruColor paint preferred.

For P&WV #1053 I used:
TCP-171 Weathered Black
TCP-008 Graphite

oversprayed with TCP-017 clear flat

My tips:

- start with a pure black (or whatever base color your prototype used
- paint the unlagged areas in a graphite color appropriate for your prototype (usually fire box, smokebox)
- shoot clear satin on jacketing and other sheet metal areas
- use clear flat on the rest
- weather to prototype photos, being careful not to over do it. Even on a dirty locomotive the sheen from the jacketing should contrast with other areas
