Those DRGW ex Rail Gons are very tempting. I see some every day with coil loads in them.

Nothing for me.  Just as well, I have other things to spend the money on.

I like both the tank cars and gons, even though I think the old MDC now Athearn gons never looked "substantial enough" as Mil gons. 

I am adding a refinery to my layout, and need tankers. I was lucky to be in Milwaukee earlier this year, where Hiawatha Hobbies has lots of stock from older runs.  I picked up several three packs for $66-72 per set, about 2/3 of that MSRP, but presumably about 15% below the typical LHS price.  I guess I am getting to that "bubble gum used to cost a nickel" age, LOL.  That said, when assembling a fleet (I am anticipating a big refinery) every dollar saved help.

Spookshow's site has a good hint - the Athearn/MDC gon appears to be based on these RailGon series (Thrall TSG-10):

And the amount of people crying about two manufacturers doing the gondolas now in HO. Otter Valley being the other.

Least for Athearn they are doing an N scale version too.

Whats the timeframe on these things? I assume they are relatively newer cars.
