Trainworld webcast 8-30 6pm EST- MicroTrains announcements

I don't know if this is news to anyone, but in case you haven't already seen the announcement in your email, facebook or youtube....

Trainworld is hosting a webcast Tuesday, Aug 30 (tomorrow as I write this) at 6pm EST featuring Eric Smith of MTL. TW is billing this as "amazing" and "spectacular" and promising "new announcements" and "exclusive products".

I don't know if it is really all that, or just the usual monthly release, but I am intrigued enough to watch. The announcement shows a bunch of PS-2s (that we already know are coming) and UP "Building America" boxcar and caboose in 2 schemes each.

TW is actually a very good supplier - fast and accurate whenever I've used them - but almost everything on their website is billed as amazing and incredible....

I didn't mean to imply anything negative about TW, I've also had good experiences with their sales and service. And if MTL really does have an amazing and spectacular announcement, all the better.

Agree about them as a retailer.

As marketers, they are the boy who cried wolf. Everything is over-hyped. I watched early on in their efforts and haven’t gone back. The videos tend to be too long for the content they have and the announcements, so far, haven’t been worth the time.

Maybe that will change? Or maybe there is a big enough audience that likes what they are doing?

As I recall, back in the day they had really great prices and TONS of stuff that was on clearance or blow out (like Bachmann G scale at crazy low prices) but the shipping costs were where they made their money back. It's been years since the last time I even considered ordering from them so I can't say if this is still the case, but they poisoned the water from me and I haven't been back.

As for MT announcements, that may be worth watching because you never know what might happen...

They didn't even cover September releases. I guess we'll have to wait til end of the week.
