How different are these from the Athearn cars?

Noticeably different.  Nothing extravagant yet it's obvious the prototypes are the products of two different builders.

I do, especially with Jeff insuring that the CR cars will be accurate to prototype.  I had passed on the NYC cars not realizing that the bulk of the fleet survived intact well into CR, but I won't miss out on these.

Yeah, it's funny, now I just realized I need to find one of the NYC cars.
And I never fear when Jeff is on the job.

The NYC cars are proving to be very elusive. I’ve been looking for close to two years, to no avail.

You need better goons!

Mine's on its way. I'd have told you from where but I think I cleaned them out.

There's no chi-goonery like CRHS chi-goonery.

I’ll get one someday. It is on my list but hasn’t been among the higher priorities.

Am I the only person thinking $26+ street price for a flat car?!!

Lucky for me, the SP flats are from a 1960's run and they have already done the SP TOFC flats in the previous run and everyone seems to be sold out.

I remember when I told myself that I'd never pay more than $10 for rolling stock.

Sirenwerks:  I think I will.  I don't know how many I can afford, but I could use at least two, and maybe a third.  Even one would be nice, but two would be better.

The BN flatcars are probably too modern for me.  I could change the service date with little effort, but I suspect that, in 1975=4, they were still in GN paint.  For those interested, here's a picture of BN 636000 in 1981, with a very oddly painted deck.

Looks like they just replaced some deck boards and went green happy.  I would prefer GN paint too, but the GN cars were converted to TOFC.  My question is, did they operate as TOFC during the early BN years or were they summarily converted to flats, but still in GN red?  If the latter, I'd like a handful please.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

The amount of plastic is far from the deciding factor in rolling stock prices.

The GN roster for 1969 shows 18 still in service as flatcars, and 162 road numbers converted to TOFC cars.  I didn't add up how many were actually IN TOFC service, so a few could have been wrecked or converted to some other use.

A roster from the Friends of the BN Railway site shows that these did receive BN numbers, some as TOFC, some as COFC, but not how many of each.  So they apparently were not converted to standard flatcars soon after the merger.  BN 635135-635316 are listed as TOFC, 636000-636955 as COFC.
