Funny thing is that the data in those "clouds" is actually stored on physical media (lots of disk drives in huge storage arrays).  In my job I support that physical storage. When the clouds rain cats and dogs  bad disk drives, I come in with umbrellas.   

Another funny thing is that in the geek world the latest thing is called "the Edge".  Basically the point is to decentralize data processing, moving some of it from the huge cloud computing farms closer to where the data is collected.  We we are again going to move away from huge server farms to more hosts (computers) scattered all over the place.

Let's see -- the buzz word was "on-prem" and "off-prem" .. on-prem  you pay a lot to M$ but you do all the work .. off-prem  you pay a lot to M$ Goog, etc .. and still do the work

Sounds like the "cloud" may soon be called the "fog".  Or it will be a case where we'll be unwittingly paying a company to act as distributed computing points for other people's data, as well as some of our own.


As long as , when my hard drive fails, I can go and grab my back-up from Google, I will be happy.  I tried Droppbox; but it had a weird habit of renaming files when downloading en masse, which kind of blew the whole attempt at organization apart.

I've been wantimg these for ages, I need the RVCX (Richter) car from Manitowoc Wisconsin. How do I get one ? Are the twin tank cars available?

So far he only has this model on Etsy. His design site is Baldylox and he has some great car and Jordan spreader models. Yeah, I’d be interested in the two tank version as well. Not sure how this material chops up for a kitbash. But the cars are well worth the money and I’m  happy to support people who put their stuff out there.
