Weekend Update 2/7/21

The great thing about modeling scenery is there are rarely mistakes that need to be completely redone. In fact, some of my worst “mistakes” ended up creating some of the most realistic scenery effects I’ve accomplished. It’s like Bob Ross talking about “happy little accidents”. Just remember that nature isn’t neat & tidy.

For me and dirt, I use dirt from my yard which is mostly clay.  First I bake in the oven, with the wife's permission.  (I do love that lady. ) 450 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 60 minutes. This is to kill what ever might me there, bugs, bacteria, fungi, etc.  You don't want them to come to life in your scenery later on.  Then once it cools, I pulverize it.  I bought an old blender at a garage sale just for this.  Then thinly brush some white glue and use a spoon to apply the dirt.  Next spray with water alcohol mix to make sure the glue grabs as much dirt as possible. When the stuff is dry use a vacuum to get up the remainder.  Re apply to what ever spots got messed the first time.

I had an all day meeting on Saturday.
But the good news? Instead of being in a hotel conference room, it was remote (ok, I think I found THE Rona silver lining).

That meant I took the meeting from the workbench.

I made some progress on my former PRR MoW bunk cars.
I'm not happy with the window color, but otherwise I think these are getting there.
