Loksound 5

Ok, I give up. I have no idea how to change the horns on Loksound 5 decoders. The decoder programming seems totally different than the Direct Select Micro I'm used to programming.

Any Ideas?

Read the text that goes with the sound file (you have to click on "more" at the end of the abbreviated description for the full text description of the file).  For LokSound 5's, the horns are switched using CV163.

IMHO, and only FWIW, It’s like all upgrades and improvements in the digital universe, just seems to get more complicated and less intuitive, especially for older folks aka “dinosaurs” as my grand daughter told me older folks are regarded as in the digital inventions area🤨. (She is always brutally honest but also highly regards her elders for the life experience they have).
Personally I think I have always been good at adopting and learning new digital stuff but now I’m feeling very left behind. 😒
Anyhow, we have TRW and our combined group of intellect and ability will always helps others out.
It’s the reason I like this forum.

In this same vein, anyone know how to increase the chuff rate on a V5 steam file? I tried CV58 at varying degrees (all the way to 255) and no change, the loco had the same chuff rate on speed step 1 as speed step 99.

Which sound project?  Typically, you decrease CV58 to increase the chuff rate, but the value in CV57 comes into play, too.

That makes a lot more sense, I thought it was higher number increase.
4-6-0 and 2-6-2T, tried both. I think the chuff rate on 57 was around 37 or so. I will try again when I can get to that decoder project again.

I tried the 4-6-0 file again, it works as intended now, thanks!
In case anyone was curious: CV57 = 55, CV58 = 15.

I will do a write up of my install when it is completed, I installed (currently only have to install lights) a 58823 with adapter in a LL 0-8-0.

Anyone send a decoder back to ESU? One of mine (not the one in this 0-8-0) seems to overheat after running about 10 inches. I would like to send it back and get a replacement or a repair.

I have sent two decoders back to ESU and they were replaced as soon as the mails allowed, no questions asked. They have excellent customer service and I am a lifetime customer, however long that is.
