Just sayin'...   :D

Honestly I think the skills I gained by building those Banta Modelworks kits in HO(n3) have really prepared me to up my game with N scale craftsman kits.  It's interesting, though...  I've enjoyed the "heft" and sound in HOn3 but now that I'm back tinkering in N scale, the tininess of everything has a charm of its own.  To be clear, I'm not modeling the Pennsy anymore so an N scale M1b with coast-to-coast tender is a very different beast than a turn-of-the-century light 2-8-0.

I'm at that glorious stage now where I'm laying out the track and structures seeing how everything will fit.  In my mind's eye I already see the mountains and the canyons, the trestles and the tunnels.  It's all coming together.

Taking a break from N scale actually has given me a deeper appreciation for it.  I'm still primarily an HOn3 guy...but this new N scale layout gets to benefit from all of the lessons learned building the HOn3 RGS from scratchbuilding trestles to much more convincing Colorado high-country scenery.

It's good to be back in the "N" crowd!

Don't let him kid you. He is a multi-scaler at heart. It just happens that both scales he models in use 9mm track.  :)

Ooo...um...yeah, no, though.  HOn3 track is 10.5 mm in gauge.   :D

It’s a good time to be in N scale !

N scale is where I started in the 70s. I have HO and O scale trolleys but there are many new possibilities now in n scale.

I used to dream about the old Western Railcraft kits for trolleys, now I have 100s of printed models. I would never have dreamed..

Fox Valley supplied me with dozens of rib side Milwaukee boxcars along with the 1935 Hiawatha.

Yeah, it’s a good time to be in n scale.

I left N scale about 7 years ago, then came back last year.  It is great to be back!

Good to hear Dave. I started out as N scaler but had a couple of flings with HO, one lasting about 15 years. But I'm back and firmly entrenched in N scale.

I totally agree. It is very good to be back in n-scale.

Although I’m surprised about how much seems different in just three years. 

Older stuff seems much harder to find and Atlas seems to have truly gone over to a just-in-time inventory model. I am behind it if that is what keeps Atlas bringing out stuff, but it does make it hard for people who change interests or get into scratch building to get bits and parts. The good news is that all the stuff I’ll want to sell this fall might be worth more than it used to be! Lol

Looking forward to building and sharing projects this winter.
