So do you all have any idea on how to repair these cars if the links are snapped off?
 have a set that got damaged in a move, and I can't quite fix them using... unconventional methods...

I have had one pin break.  I dropped the car.  It was a clean break with no deformation.  Drilled holes where the parts surfaces met and glued and pinned them together.  Ditched the box kept the foam and made some trays for storage and the next move

Yeah I read through those, but so many snapped off and i have tried fixing them that way but they failed, so I have resorted to milling the plastic remnants out and was trying to make new ones out of scrap brass, but so far I've had no luck.
