Touch Up Paint or marker for Use on MTL 1015 coupler trip pin

  I am in the process of assembling twenty (20) pairs of MTL 1015 Black couplers. In the process I have damaged the black paint of the trip pins reveling the original copper color. Is there a color of paint or marker pen that closely matches the original black color on the trip pins?   I would actually prefer a marker pen color.  Less setup and clean up than paint.
   I would greatly appreciate information that can be provided.

Just get a black Shaprie oil based paint pen at Michael's or the like.  No clean up necessary.

You may have a problem with paint chipping off, again.  I think a Sharpie would be more durable, even if slightly purple.

I am wondering if the old "sight black" metal treatments would work on that copper plating.  There is a copper version, and aluminum version, as well as the "quick blue" version for steel.

If I can find some of my copper version, I will give it a try.

Metal blackeners like Jax Black will work.  Dipping them in NeoLube works great, looks great, and has the added benefit of not being sticky, corrosive, smelly, etc.  If a little gets on the plastic part of the coupler, you won't notice and it won't make anything sticky.

I think Max has the better idea.  Neolube might rub off, but is easy to reapply if it does, and does not have the potential to cause any metal corrosion if accidentally dripped in the wrong places.

I use Neolube on my trip pins too...in both scales.

I use cheap dark gray craft paint, thinned a little, and a small brush.  Cleanup is just water, so no hassle.
