I need to replace couplers on my locomotives

I have two broadway six wheel diesel locomotives (http://www.spookshow.net/loco/blif3f7.html) (see I'm learning, I'm sorting out what specific locomotives they are vs just asking a question), and 2 kato six wheels (http://www.spookshow.net/loco/katoe8a.html) that I need to put new couplings on (the old ones are 'gone'- IDK).

I would like the Micro-Trains couplers on there.  So far, so good, right?

Which number coupler should I order?  I know, I have looked at the catalog online but I can't make sense of it.  One of the rear trucks had a coupler attached, but I'm thinking that body mounted couplers might be better.  I'm guessing I have to do some modifications to them to make them work.

Other than the couplers themselves, is there something else I should order?  I'm thinking the boxes to mount them in, a special drill size and tap size?  Living in COVID time I'm always trying to make sure I have everything I need.  I miss being able to run out to the hardware, train store or whatever when I'm working on a project.  I find I can have 90% of the things, but it will be something like a short finishing nail, an o ring or whatever I didn't know I needed.

I will appreciate any advice you can offer.

BTW train runs beautifully over the track now

Thanks again

I would leave the BLI couplers alone, I have several BLI E and F units and the couplers are fully compatible with MT.

For the KATO E8 the 2000-1 coupler conversion kit is recommended.  The rear coupler will remain truck mounted with this conversion kit.  If you are up to the challenge you could build a mount for a 1016 (old part number) using polystyrene shapes.

Or if the Kato loco has missing couplers, why not just reinstall the original Kato knuckle couplers?  They are compatible with Micro Trains ones.

By missing, I mean GONE.  I am going to have to order some replacements- would I be better trying to get the original Kato and Broadway couplers?

The couplers on the BLI loco's are Micro-Trains 1015. Pretty much their standard coupler.

For the Kato E8's, order the OEM replacement coupler for the rear at least. I believe it is a 2001 or 2004 that fits the front if you want to use MT instead of the factory couplers.
