I have seen the armatures on eBay, recently.

BTW, are parts of the commutator segments really missing or are they just oxidized/dirty?

You can also search on ebay.de (Germany) or ebay.co.uk (Great Britain). Locos with this drive are probably listed more frequently on those sites than the "main" Ebay, and you may find some for "parts or repair."  Be wary of the shipping costs from Germany, however.

Good news, I found the engine.  Bad news, the lights come on, but nobody's home in the motor.
Didn't even buzz a little.
I'll probably keep the shell in case I ever want to kitbash another one of those MARC commuter geeps with the wide cab, but the drive will be going in the junk box.  If you want it to tinker with, you're welcome to it!
