The electrical stuff deserves its own thread, but ...   (I'm not going to get involved...yes I am.)

For the life of me, I can't find any section of the electrical code that prohibits more than one circuit in a box.  There's a section that requires simultaneous disconnection of circuits on the same 'yoke.'  I don't think that applies here, since the switches are attached to the box separately from the coverplate.   

If the subpanel is 'brand new' it could be legit but I don't see a deadfront or a label to prove it to me.  OTOH I find it odd that that the panelboard fits into that box so neatly.   I've seen some odd ones.

The lack of solid grounding, strain relief connectors, and cable support are serious issues.

You're right, but by the OPs description I interpreted the "second outlet" on a separate circuit as being a split duplex as opposed to a second duplex in a quad box, and for the sake of the discussion I oversimplified. Splitting circuits on a single duplex, I believe, is not allowed, but I can't quote code chapter and verse on it at the moment.

I agree on the lug panel - that's a strange one.

Any idea who made them?  They were in ziplock bags when bought.

If they are the 73' then probably Red Caboose, tho I didn't know they had ever made them as kits.

Reminded me of back when I was an electrician and some of the things I saw.


Yeah, don't feed your duplex receptacles on different circuits. and don't tie your neutrals together outside the panel.

how'd you score the decals??? Visited the UB couple of years ago at St Louis RPM. Beautiful layout, but surprised by it's compact size (or maybe it was just the narrow aisles), photos/photographers make it look much larger

The friend I am doing the cars for procured the decals. I think he got them through someone on the UB Historical Society group on FB. They are homemade and are some of the most frustrating decals to work with.

The centerbeam is definitely Red Caboose... Someone was selling parts lots on ebay a while back. Not kits officially, but for all intents and purposes...

The Utah Belt has ahistorical society?
