Advice re Model Power 4-6-2 Pacific

Thank you both for your advice.  I checked the tender trucks and indeed one of the axles on the front tender truck had been reversed at some point.  After correcting this the locomotive now runs quite well.  I am quite pleased that I was able to repair a steam locomotive!

I am noticing that the lead axle on the tender seems to derail when the engine is operated in reverse.  I will have to see why that is happening.  Not occurring in forward direction.

A short length of heat shrink tubing over the screw/post can serve as your bushing.  Just be gentle applying the heat so as not to foul any of the plastic nearby.  It would take a long time, but the screw threads will eventually be eating away at the drawbar under load.

The final step in this repair was to implement Lee's suggestion of heat shrink tubing on the new drawbar post.  The tubing flared out when I cut it and this has served to keep the drawbar from climbing up off the post.




All back together and running well; thank you everyone for your assistance.
