Southern Railway coach info

If I had to guess I would say they have plenty of more popular names to put on the single window coach to start it’s production runs. The paired window coach has been run in the popular stuff and they are now looking for more correct roadnames to continue it’s production.

I'm surprised that nobody yet asked why is Joe looking for a paired window coach info when MTL has just come out with a model of a single window coach (which seems to have been most numerous on Southern Railway)?

We don't have the single window coach at the moment of course, still a ways from being released.  I am looking at starting a Southern Railway monthly release series soon and trying to figure out how many of our existing heavyweights I can use to fill out the line.  This is just due diligence and once we have the single window coach, we can add those as well.  We did get some info on a few duel window coaches, tracking down that info now.

Note that the round Southern herald on the heavyweight coach in the photo is an excursion-era addition and not used on Southern's heavyweight cars in general service before the 1960's. As Southern is one of my primary roads I model in the early 1950's, I am looking forward to any MT Southern Railway releases! I'll need a 10-pack of the single window coaches. Maybe someday some Central of Georgia, Seaboard Air Line, Frisco, IC, ACL, and L&N heavyweight cars won't be too far behind.

By the way, Virginian had paired window coaches, baggage-RPO's, and business cars if Micro-Trains is ever interested. An entire prototypical VGN train could actually be offered in a 3 pack: baggage-RPO+2 coaches.  The N&WHS Model Advisory Team can help if needed.

Business cars Guyandotte River and Fairhaven had ballon roofs while New River had a celestory roof.

The MT baggage/mail is three window, but is close enough to pass for the Virginian four window.

I am still hoping for the NYCS single window runner pack:  NYC, P&LE, B&A, P&E, even if it is a seventy-eight instead of a seventy foot coach.  The P&LE needs brass window sashes.

When the single window coach does appear, MT can also do Old and Weary for those who bought the B-mann USRA light 4-8-2 (or if IM ever does the O&W passenger F-3s).

Yep, if I were forced to model a Eastern Road lol, it would be
Virginian.  I am planning on pushing a set just like that once we get the single window coach in production
