Q2: How do I get the shell off a 42000 Atlas RS-3?

I have successfully removed the shells on my other (9) RS-3's but have one that doesn't seem to budge no matter what I do.
I have exceeded Spookshow's method of patience and slowing working my way around but the chassis seems immovable on the ends.
(Yes I do know where the side tabs are.)
Only the bottom only the trucks are marked (with a part number; they do show 4 gear openings per truck (most of mine only show 2 per truck).

If it's one of the original Atlas/Kato units, there is a loop at one end and (I think) a latch at the other, as well as latch inside the cab on either side.   Step one is to disengage the cab, which also has 3 latches, from the body so you can get at the latches inside.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Even with those instructions (which help a lot), this thing is a pain to get apart.  You have to be VERY careful or you will break the tabs on the hood ends of the shell.

And the latches on the hood (inside of the cab) are pretty tight too.

Yes sir, I can attest to that fact!
