Does the brigade have any recommendations for acrylic colors currently available to match the yellow, blue and vermillion that Atlas used on its GP40-2s?

Let me channel my inner Lee @wm3798...

"Drink a few bottles of acrylic craft paint and whatever colors you sh!t out in four hours is your match."

Salty enough?

I too was going to mention @wm3798 with his thoughts, as he is such a fan of the kitty.  Had to have painted a few Chessie engines for his fleet  :D

If the above reply doesn't work, Tru Scale chessie orange, yellow and blue should be close.  Maybe add a drop of darker blue to the blue and maybe a drop or two of red to the orange.  I don't have a GP40-2 but I have other Atlas Chessie models but it should be similar.

You're doing touch-up work, I take it?

Yep. I have a pair of GP40s, a 40-2 and a B30-7 that all need some love.

Don't let @wm3798 hear that...  I hear he's "salty" lately and I think I heard a rattle can...  :D

I used the red and blue straight from the bottle along with a little thinner but the yellow I had to play with just a little to get it the way I like it. These are all with Tru-Color paints.

While Dr Hotballs has an excellent formula for "As delivered"  the simple answer is dirt.  By 1985 Chessie had been swallowed by CSX, and nothing had a fresh Chessie paint job in at least two years.  And we all know none of them ever saw a wash rack.

So dab some grime on the worst chips then add a wash of road dust, diesel smears, soot etc.  That'll do the trick.
