Bachmann SD9: Only one number?

                  I just placed my first reservation / order to Hogtrainz. It was for Bachmann's soon to be released SD9 with DCC Sound. Why has Bachmann chosen to release only one locomotive number with each road name? If I' am going to run SP Black Widow , Rio Grande or other road units I would want to run at least 2 consisted together. What gives here? Bachmann has usually run several numbers on most, but not all of their steam locomotives. I guess I will be renumbering one of my SP locomotives.                                     Nate Goodman (Nato).

I don't remember seeing any Bachmann diesels with multiple numbers. It seems to be their policy for whatever reason.

Same goes for their smaller steam... It has been that way for years now...

Been this way from the very beginning... be thankful they are offering it at all, they could take up the attitude of Bowser or Walthers and not offer anything at all in N-scale which could be far worse than having just one number.

I agree that getting any model at all, with only one number available, is better than getting no model.

But, I do wonder about the "marketing" at Bachmann.  I would think that offering 2 numbers (at least) would increase sales significantly without causing any inventory issues.

The Dash-8 40C was available over its production life in at least 6 different road numbers ( at least for the Conrail units) while the B 23-7/30 were only offered in one road number. The HO versions got more numbers.
