Attachment Security Error
« on: April 15, 2017, 12:28:36 PM »
I was uploading some photos from our latest Silicon Valley FreeMoN show, and about 2/3's of the way through what I wanted to load, I started getting a "your attachment violates security" type of error, and I was unable to continue.  I doubt there is anything wrong with the actual photos, but something weird has happened.

The exact error is "Your attachment has failed security checks and cannot be uploaded. Please consult the forum administrator."

This sounds like probably by-chance some arrangements of bytes in your image matches some virus' signature.

Yes, that's probably what it is.  If it's a JPEG, can you just save it at a slightly different compression and try again?

It is actually good to know that TRW attachments are automatically scanned for the nasty stuff.

Good ideas. Will try tomorrow on finishing the uploads (had to run to the final day of show after posting - just finished tear down)

Just a follow up -- all the "raw" photos after a certain point from my Galaxy S5 started getting the same error.  Loaded each one into Photoshop, saved with new name and compression, and all uploaded fine.  No idea what caused 7 photos, taken over a 3 hour span, spark this.

Yeah, that is odd. You're also the first one who was affected!

Look up "steganography".  Could your phone have an actual virus, which is trying to spread through the photos?
