I'm pretty sure that the n scale CMR shells are the old Big Dawg shells, as he no longer does n scale and that he sold the masters off.

All their HO shells are done by Big Dawg.

But you do know what they say about assuming, though if I was wrong it would be a heck of a coincidence.

I tried almost every option before I finally asked Jeff Briggs (who was with Kaslo at the time) to build a resin version of the cab.

Isn't Jeff Briggs the same gentleman who offered a N-scale RS18u conversion (cab, radiators, etc) for the Atlas RS11? Does anyone know if these are available anywhere? The "order page" of the Briggs Models website appears to be permanently "closed for maintenance." I'd love to get my hands on a couple...

Hi Chris

I know he has had some issues with the website. Just email him as I am pretty sure he still has the RS-18 low nose cab kits in stock.

PM me for his address.

I have been trying to talk him into doing a long hood conversion as well for the BC Rail RS-18 so hopefully we will see more of the low nose in stock if he has run out.

On Shapeways, Prince Street has ends that fit the Atlas/Kato RS11 to turn them into RS18s - https://www.shapeways.com/product/DJ2YZS9MG/rs18-hood-end-n-scale-1-160?optionId=35598502.  The vendor also has a full short hood to do the CN Tempo RS18, as well as RS10 ends.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Something's off with the look of the cab. Maybe the front windows. But it's a web photo. I'm hoping a CN modeller has one and can give a review.

Thanks. Craig.

If they are going to sell a complete shell vs a cab to put on an existing shell, they should at least put the correct #&$@รท% details on it..

Even if the cab was correct:
-No anticlimber
-Wrong steps
-Wrong blower hatch...

...seems safe to call it a GP40-2WTF?

I've never been impressed by the Big Douche shells.  For all of the time and effort needed to fix the mistakes on them, it's probably better to either do it yourself or use your $ to pay someone to do it the right way.

other then the windows that shell is actually largely correct for the GP40-2L's that KCS acquired years ago . . . . do we know how he does his masters?  Is it a Big Dawg fiasco all over again?

I believe big dawg and CMR are the same guys, or in are business together, but I could be wrong. Concerning the shells, they're more than likely just copies of of other's parts, like the SD60E shell.

The Crappy Molded Resin GP40-2WTF is not correct for KCS

The Big Douche/Crappy Molded Resin GP40-2WTF clearly uses the Atlas GP40-2 long hood, which explains why it has the wrong blower hatch, the wrong radiators, and no handbrake.

If Big Dawg truly made an "Original", there wouldn't be any evidence that he screwed the pooch when building the master.
