My family and I visited the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois this past Monday.  Here's a highlight of some of our sights.  Up first is Illinois Terminal interurban car No. 415.  We rode this trolley twice:

Southern Pacific SD7R No. 1518.  This locomotive carries the distinction of being EMD's very first SD locomotive built, as GM demonstrator No. 990:

Norfolk & Western storage mail car No. 1459:


Chicago, Burlington & Quincy E5A No. 9911A.  This locomotive is attached to the "Train of the Goddesses" articulated trainset, and is referred to as the Nebraska Zephyr.  Sadly, I couldn't get a good picture of the train, since it was stored inside and not running that day:

The Indiana Northeastern held an excursion ride for charity last weekend, it was handled by their pair of GP30s, one on each end.



Everything was going well until the train robbers on horseback showed up. They "robbed" us to benefit the Ashley, IN fire and police department.

Wow, it's almost hard to believe that lowly CF7, Yorkrail No. 1500 (née ATSF F7A No. 275L), started life looking something like this:
