Anyone tried Shapeways' rapidpro vendor N scale offerings?

Has anyone in the audience received any of the N scale vehicle products from the Shapeways vendor Rapidpro (aka Madaboutcars, aka [Jens] Jahn 3D Rapid Prototyping)?


The vendor has a slew of vehicles to add variety to the vehicular population of a layout (especially 1960s and 70s) and I'm especially interested in the crew cab pick-up.  The 60s+ vehicles look pretty sharp by the drawings, but the 50s vehicles look a little more angular on the more bulbous surfaces and I'm wondering how this plays out in production and if they need a lot of sanding to paint up good.  I'm also curious if they're a) consistently in-scale and b) if it would be easy to open the passenger compartments (as in remove the solid 'glass' and replace with Kristal Klear) and b) reposition the front tires to turn the wheels.


Actual photos of unfinished or painted models would be great and, of the latter, some note of how much finishing was involved would be great too.

Yes. I've bought a number of his N scale vehicles. He has a good selection from the 1960s. IMO the quality and detail is exceptional. I haven't done anything to them, except paint. Didn't feel they needed it. Though I must admit, painting is not the easiest. (Due to the fine detail.) But that might be more due to my lack of ability, than anything else.

My only criticism is I wished he'd sort his cars, at Shapeways, by scale & vintage. To make it easier to find exactly what I'm looking for. But then I don't know if he has any control over that.

Yeah, great stuff in both N and HO.  Ken Patterson did a feature on the HO vehicles either in an MRH video and possibly an article as well.
