TTX didn't start modifying the flats for Twin45 until 1980 or 1981, so you wouldn't see 45s on TOFC much. That Navajo paint scheme probably didn't make it onto 45s - but maybe someone has a photo to show otherwise. MTL has goofed up in this way at least 3 times in recent yrs (unfortunately).

Yes.  I was trying to see any pattern, etc when looking at the photos last night between the newer and older logo.  Microscale's decal sheet with the later logo shows the 60's as an era.  Sadly,  there seems not a lot on the history of individual trucking companies as there is on railroads.  I'm guessing things like this are more for the collector side of their customer base.  I can't help but to think this trailer would look even better if one were to add an under body refer unit and fuel tank from Trainworx.

Pullman green car should have gold, or imitation gold, lettering depending on era. Later, cars were painted dark gray with imitation aluminum (white) lettering. As with the horse car, they come close, but miss important details.
The car itself is quite close - the prototype has the large door with five windows to the left and the smaller door with four windows to the right. The larger door was an 8' double door versus the single 7' door on the model.
There was a Lot 965 of ten 70' cars numbered 8600-8609 but they were built by AC&F in 1924 not Barney and Smith in 1910 as MTL advertises. I don't know where MTL is getting their information. Also the NYC didn't run along the eastern seaboard; it ran from New York to Chicago.
I bought a painted undecorated car (when they were available) and added MicroScale gold decals.

Thanks Mike, that's helpful. I'm a stickler for my own prototypes (Atsf/UP) but don't mind "close enough" stand-ins for foreign roads... I can live with one door being a foot off. Era appropriate paint schemes is a another story, to me that's important. I have several undecs in Pullman green so I will likely decal one for NYC in gold for my cca'50 era and skip this MT offering.

Probably moving on to waiting on next month, although I am curious to know where the CP red 65 foot log cars could be found on the rails.

Canada mostly. From what I've seen, a good number of them made it to their 40 year ban from interchange in their original paint, which was not CP Rail. As a stand-in they're ok cars, but nothing near an exact match. I'm still on the fence on these.

Otto, the Wheels of Time release of the NYC Pullman green with gold lettering is a good representation of the prototype.

Bruce, lol, nice try but sorry. I'm looking for more undecs also as I too have more of Roberto's sides to do.

Bryan, thanks do the info, but I thought the WoT cars doors are closer to the center than the MT's, and also both large doors are on the same side of the car whereas the MT's large doors are always on the left, ie opposite sides of the car.
I don't know enough about the NYC prototype to say which one is a better stand-in. Comp pic below. Perhaps Mike or someone can chime in?

well..
these pics from the Passenger Car Photo Index only confuse me more (between the MT and WOT cars)...
However, if the NYC car doesn't have mirrored doors (same sized doors opposite each other), than the MT car would be closer to the NYC prototype, although obviously not a dead ringer-one could scribe a door crack to make the MT car appear to have two doors covering the larger opening.
and, if these all are 60' cars (which may be because of the 2 axle trucks), then the only 'accurate' version would be the 60 resin shell and frame from Skytop Models ( and some scribing work would have to be done to that one)

The WOT model is 70' in length.  The NYC 8700 series and 9000 series, used for transcontinental service from 1940 through 1968.

The MTL car is much closer to the NYC prototype. The doors on the WOT car are noticeably too close together and they are switched (sizes) left to right.
In their defense, the WOT car does have correct lettering. Their trucks are also a closer match to the prototype.

Here's what I could find,

There was only one GLf car, road number 250000. It was a PRR GLa hopper car whose side panels were replaced with the bulging ones and whose height was increased by 8 inches, all to increase the carrying capacity of the car by 15%. The car used the 2D-F8 truck. The earliest known photo is when the car was in the Altoona shops in February 1935 (see below), and it appears to have been removed from the roster in July 1951. Actually, in recent times Atlas beat them to the punch with the December 8th announcement of 1932 ARA Boxcars.  They have 3 PRR numbers of which two are "alternate history timeline" numbers.  The PRR had one X35 boxcar of which this is supposed to be a sample.
