Norfolk geometry train leaving Elkhart Yard, heading to Toledo, OH, with NS 5818 (GP38-3) and NS 33 and 34 in tow.

Reese,

What's that hiding at left in your picture?  Is that a pantograph that I see?

Dave, I can't answer your question for sure, but going by the register at the New York Central Railroad Museum, it might be the Chicago, South Shore & South Bend electric commuter car 15, built by Pullman-Standard in 1926.  It was the first of the South Shore's cars to be lengthened to 78-feet by adding a new section in the middle. The NYC Railroad Museum is at the East End of Elkhart Yard.

Rich answered it for me. There's also a GG1 on display but is condition is pretty sad. The museum is worth a visit if you're in the area, they have NYC 3001 (1 of 2 Mohawks left) on display which is worth checking out, if only we could get it back under steam.

Reese, Thank you for confirming my thoughts. The NYC Museum is on my bucket list as well as the NKP Railroad museum near Bellevue  :)

Aint she a bute ? Only one example form the early days. Sure would be great to see one on the current UP steam program all shiny and well kept. I believe this shot was made in El Paso late40's as train 992 was on the ELP-Tuc time table. Also the bridge looks like the one crossing the yards around Cotton street.

PS - it was cajonpassfan, OTTO K. that sent me this photo. Cool image.
