Not to drift this too far...but since we have two bumper styles, does any one know the situation in which the PRR chose one type over the other. I suspect the cinder type was used in more rural settings, but what standard did the Standard Railroad of the World use?  ;)

@towl1996 If you read the NOTE: on the plan you will find your answer.  Sorry for being cryptic but I didn't want to create yet another image file!  :D

How about either adding a 2nd score line or designing a 2nd type of bumper for those modelers who have their tracks on a solid flat piece of cork (or lay their yard tracks directly on the layout's surface)?

@peteski As I mentioned earlier, I really don't want the customer risking buying the wrong one.  I think it would be simpler to cut away the cork using the (reduced for C55) outer edge as a guide.  everything will be covered in ballast cinders or dirt anyway, no?

Thanks @Lemosteam, blew right over that link, plus I never would have thought to look there.

Sure, that works too. I don't really have a stake in this - I was just doing what I do best: making comments (which weren't even snarky this time).  :D

Does anybody have a link to a real life picture? Perhaps for the concrete bumper, too?

@peteski , Yes I know, I like all of the comments and thoughts here if it helps me design better products!

Just an FYI- @wcfn100 This may give folks an idea as to why the cinder bumper is more expensive then the concrete bumper:
