Budget Controller

I came across a neat little device on a thread on NGRM-Online and it looks promising:

I've already ordered one with the intentions of powering it with a 9v power-supply and using it with my Nn3 layout.

Since I fancy handheld throttles, I also ordered a good looking aluminum project enclosure:

The project enclosure will be here sometime today or tomorrow, but the controller itself being on the slow boat from China it'll show up who knows when.
I'll be reporting back with test results once the little devil arrives and I have it wired up to the layout.

Cody's link is broken.
This one should work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400831877549

Interesting gadget. Sure inexpensive enough.  Since it is a PWM controller (not an analog linear variable circuit) it will be interesting to see how it handles coreless motors.

In my case at least, it only needs to run a tiny Märklin 5-pole motor.
I just got the project enclosure today and at first inspection it should do well for the body of a handheld 9v throttle.

Report:

The little gizmo performs very well with the tiny 5-pole motor in my Märklin 0-6-0.
It gives a very good range of speed control as well as better slow-speed running.
I need to see if the wheels on the 0-6-0 will clean up or not and then I'll give it further testing.
