I know some of you are building the Conrail OCS. What cars are you using for which prototypes? The Bachman fun dome is a no brainer. How close is the CC Budd parlor to #12? Would one of the Rowa cars be a better fit?

Your results will depend on how strict you are about windows.

Back in college my independent study project was to develop and build custom car sides for the OCS fleet.. but I never got around to applying them (Sitting in my basement)..  I CNC'd the patterns out of styrene sheets.

Here is what I would do today if I started the project.
Old 1, 2 - Lima Observation with rivets sanded off
New 1, 2, and  4. Micro Trains OCS
5/100 One time I took a sh*t ton of squadron putty to Kato Office car observation.
8 I have the sides to CR8 applied to a Con-Cor HW coach.  (I think a Con-Cor HW Sleeper with rivets sanded will fill the role).. change trucks to 4 axle LW
9 One time I took a Con-Cor Coach and scratch built it, but I'd use brass car sides if I did it again.
10 Micro Trains Observation with rivets sanded off
11 Rapido Car
12 Rowa car  (not sure what type)
19 was a renumbering of either 3 or 10
25 & 26 I took a ConCor HW Split window coach and removed the 'splits'.. then sanded off rivets. (At the time I had the luxury of a J&J Harriman Roof.)
27 Con-Cor Budd
55 Obvious..

Doesn't someone make brass car sides?

The Bachmann dome as a stand-alone is hideous.  You need the M&R ATSF Big Dome etching and an ALM core kit or a Kato donor, along with the interior components and trucks from the Bachmann model.

This is the rough RTR list that gets you a reasonable representation.  Window and hardware arrangements of the RTR cars obviously are not accurate, with the exception of #11 and #27.

 1 - MTL business car.
 3 - MTL business car body and MTL observation roof.
 4 - MTL business car.
 5 - MTL business car.
 8 - no close stand-in.
 9 - no close stand-in.
10 - MTL business car body and MTL observation roof, but you need 4-wheel Commonwealth trucks.
11 - Rapido 10-5.
12 - Con-Cor Budd coach, but the roof flutes must be plated over.
19 - MTL business car body and observation roof.
20 - no close stand-in.
21 - MTL business car.
23 - WOT 70' baggage car with clerestory roof.
24 - no close stand-in.
26 - no close stand-in.
27 - Con-Cor Budd coach.
55 - M&R sides over an ALM or Kato core.
47004 - Con-Cor Budd diner.

They are sold direct by Roberto... you can find contact info on the page linked to below but keep in mind, he has a full-time job that takes him some distance away from his home so he is kind of hard sometimes to reach.  Be patient... he will answer you.

I'd be interested in the drawings for #5.  It's currently the NS OCS #7.

Also, is there any description of the MTL Business car? I've tried Google but I can't seem to come up with anything and I'm not familiar with it.  Was it a special run?

Okay, I found it on Spookshow's Passenger Car site http://www.spookshow.net/passenger/mtheavy.html  I guess it's a hard thing to find since it was a Lowell Smith custom car.

It's an MTL-owned tool, they just haven't released any standard items utilizing the body yet and have used it only for special runs.  Call MTL directly to purchase the parts.
