Joining Peco code 80 turnouts and Atlas code 55 track

I have decided to use some of those little 9" radius Peco code 80's for my mine spur - does anyone remember an article on how to do the shim together...? I found one article here but I thought we had a "how to" posted at one time...

I think that thread nicely covers the Peco C55 turnouts, but I don't think that's what the OP was looking for.

On true Peco C80 I'm not quite sure how you'd mate that to Atlas C55 unless you made an adapter out of Peco C55 in the middle, still a bit of a kludge.

I've been mating up various legacy odd-geometry C80's and Peco SL1's to Peco C55 with reckless abandon.

Not sure about the article and I've not tried this with the Peco C80 and Atlas C55 but, I'd think you should be able to do the old HO Rail Jointer Trick? Use a code 80 Rail Jointer on the Peco switch, then slightly flatten the other end and solder the code 55 rail to the slightly flattened rail jointer? Test fit before soldering to make sure the rail heads line up. After soldering the C55 to the C80 RJ's, then just let the rail naturally transition down to the lower tie height of the C55 rail. Once you've ballasted and the the glue has dried, everything should be rock solid.

This is now you do it. Use the C80 flattened rail joiner will work fine.
