L&N Passenger Car Decals

Several L&N 10-6's (PS plan 4140) interchanged with the PRR. They featured PRR-style Tuscan Red body paint, the PRR-style stripes, but their letterboard featured L&N spelled out in a script type face.

Anyone know of decals available for the letterboard for these cars? I need them in N scale, but at this point even a lead in HO scale would work.

The L&N car names in question are GREEN RIVER, KENTUCKY RIVER, and BARREN RIVER. As of 1954 the first was interchanged via the St. Louisan and the other two via the Cincinnati Limited.

These 10-6s also ran on the PRRs South Wind. That'd be a neat train to model, since not only N&W sleepers but NP dome cars (in NP colors) also ran in the train during summer in the '60s.
I don't think we see  enough of these mixed-road trains running on layouts, other than ones all in the same colors like the joint Zephyr or Streamliner trains. There must be many prototype pass trains that had mixtures of all kinds of car road name colors (and versions) in them.

If enough of us were interested, we might be able to convince Bill to create a set specifically for the 10-6s.  I am also hoping he does a set for the Hummingbird sleepers someday soon.

I was hoping that there would have been something close to what was used but there isn't one... the lettering that was used was like what the PRR used, which was rather square.  Here is a shot that shows what I am talking about...

This car was sold to Amtrak and after its retirement there it was sold to Nacionales de Mexico, where it has likely met its fate.  The sister car, Green River, was also sold to Amtrak and after the car left the roster it wound up at the Blue Ridge RR Museum, where it was scrapped just a week ago[url] after it had sit for several decades, rusted and decaying.

So far I haven't found any one who offers such decals but I do hope that someone will.  Maybe Curt Fortenberry or Craig Harrison might consider designing such decals so that sets can be made... they can be contacted through their pages at the Great Decals site.
