Z-905's on MT FT A front?

Hi,
 Has anyone installed aZ-905 on Micro-Trains N FT A unit pilot? It's way too short to use existing coupler hardware.
 Maybe  a styrene "tongue"? Install would be for appearance only.

Z scale MT coupler still looks like an MT coupler. If for appearance only, why not use a non-functioning properly scaled coupler?  Many older steam loco models came equipped with such couplers. Someone might even sell such coupler as a detail part.

I got a Z905 installed on front, with just gluing where back of coupler contacts frame halves.
 I never got around to putting "finishing touches" on units. The # board decals are now in too. But the diaphragms, what a PITA.
 The included instructions are weak at best. They to go between A and B unit? Did that, and can't connect drawbar, much less take a curve.
 Anyone have pix of their MT FT's with the MT 'phragms on?

I have several ABBA FT sets and only put diaphragms between the B's; the proto AB's are very closely coupled with only 8' between outer axles and to me the close coupling is more important.

One trick used years ago, if you want a view block between the units, was to use a piece of foam rubber for a diaphragm.  There's no detail, but it does improve the look when running.

I tried it back in the 70s, and it worked, but most of the BN's Fs had lost their diaphragms anyway, so I don't need to worry about them.

Read Marks review. He guesses one for back of A, one for back of B. They do run very quiet, and will creep.
