I'm elbow-deep in a property purchase at the moment, which is why I haven't been able to keep up with events. As it happens, I'll be updating the blog shortly. I'm working with my attorney on an aspect of the patent that the overseas patent office isn't grokking. They're trying to claim it's just like a competitive design (and therefore not unique), when in fact they're about as similar as a toaster oven and a pinball machine.

I'm sure that if your pinball machine is using all incandescent light-bulbs and has been on for awhile that it'll toast a slice of bread.

Well, you should have no trouble presenting testimony to the contrary.   (I'm only *half* kidding...although I realize nothing is ever as easy as it sounds)

I do think we are all anxious for something to drool over though.

Pure curiosity.. What is the benefit of having international patents in place.. (vs having only a US patent).

Without overseas patents in place, would an overseas company be able to produce a 'knockoff' protomate and sell it in the US?
.. Or does it protect NZT's ability to have exclusive international OEM sales.

Without international patents, a country such as China could make a knock-off and sell it to Europe or just about any market in the world except the US. A US patent only protects it domestically.

There's probably a further problem, even with international patents in place. The cost of litigating violations is pretty steep.
