Was that module in the 04 Chantilly layout or even the earlier Unconventions in Richmond? I might have a photo or two of it from back then. I know I've seen it before. Have to go get my old computer out of the closet and look it up.

If I remember correctly, it indeed is. I cannot confirm this 100% (more like 90%) since I haven't written down all the different stories I've been told In my two years as a member.

Looks like a lot of work, but I don't see piles of splinters, so it should just be a big puzzle to reassemble.

I thought the same thing, but then once you pick out the big pieces, there are little bits and bobs that are lying about at the bottom. its like having a puzzle 70% done but yet you just cant seem to get the remaining 30% to fit the way it needs to, and that's just from my initial visual analysis.

Not related to my previous statements, but just a tidbit about my own history with the "Miriah", as the bridge is commonly referred to.

This bridge is literally a piece of my childhood since it was always a part of "The Big N-Scale Layout" at the local Greenberg show which was in the South Jersey Expo Center up till about '05. The bridge was basically how I knew that this was the "same" layout as before.
When I joined New Jersey Southern two years ago (three in june) and I learned that the club was and is the owner of the same bridge as I had seen as a kid, it wasn't exactly destiny but either way it's good enough for me.
I take pride in the fact that I'm providing the younger generation exactly what the other members had provided me any many others when i was a child.

A landmark indeed! I'm not your man, but I too hope it finds a good home.

Cody,

That does look like a bit of a mess, but as others have said, it does't look like a lost cause. Why not give it a shot yourself since you have such a strong attachment? The material costs are modest (wood, glue, stain, etc...) and it would only require standard modeling tools. Nothing fancy required, just time. Seems like nobody cares more about having this repaired than you. If you run into problems, ask the club for suggestions or help. I am sure the older members would appreciate a good effort by a younger modeler.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Regardless of my own attachment, the club is considering hiring it out to insure that it is restored to its former glory as best as possible. I would take it upon myself to attempt it but not only do I have no room, nor am I allowed to bring anything else into the house seeing as how I'm taking up 2 of the 4 table (each 3'x8') in my studio, and the one table that isn't my workbench is a bit of a mess and is also occupied by my 2'x4', Great Western Railway themed N-Trak module.

Yep. That's the Miriah alright.

On an aside, we finally removed some of those "Capitol Limited" labels from modules after all these years.

Will do John. We're just chumming the waters right now in preparation for a more official decision, seeing as how it is a major undertaking.
