So even though I was filing the ends of the rail, I decided to take Pete Nolan's advise to make sure they are smooth; and what I discovered was I wasn't filing enough and in all areas; once I did that I found the joiners went on much easier.  So for newbies about to lay your new P55 track, file, file, file.   :|

I use a piece of rail with a bend of 45 degrees right around half a length of a rail joiner. The bend prevents the joiner from sliding further down when pushing the other side onto the rail. I also filed my joiner tool all away around thinner so the joiner goes on without a problem and lets go of the joiner once it is in the right spot.

This sounds like a great idea, definitely going to give it a shot.

First, I replace the Peco Joiners with Atlas c55 joiners.

Then I replace the Peco c55 track with Atlas c55 track.

I find this works very well. :D :ashat:
