Painting over Realistic Water

I painted my river area and thought it looked good.  I applied Realistic Water and now I’m not sure I like the results.  Has anyone painted over the hardened Realistic Water and then reapplied another coat of the water.  My concern,  will the realistic water react to the newly applied paint between layers of realistic water.  I'm open for all coments.

I've never been a fan of "Realistic Water" (always thought the name was an oxymoron). The one time I used it, I wound up tearing it out, applying acrylic paint, and then covering the paint with artist's gloss gel medium (sort of like Mod Podge). Thankfully the stuff pulled up fairly easily, but you may not be as lucky.

My first question is what don't you like about your results? They seem fine to me .

Whatever you do, don't paint it blue. Trust me, you'll never hear the end of it!

What is wrong with the result?
I have painted a two-part epoxy river with decoupage ModgePodge to get a ripple effect in the water.
Sorry I doubt that I have any photos to share.  Trust me, it worked fine.  I applied several coats of the ModgePodge to get the desired end result.

That looks nice,but maybe its hard to see with the small picture.What dont you like about the river you made?

I am also not a fan of realistic water, and the paint may very well react, as well as the second layer simply reacting with the first.

Except for small ponds, I ended up, like DKS, just tearing it out. It was more expensive and didn't create as good an effect as traditional artists gloss medium.

Mark, the blue water is fine, once you get used to it. It's just a really clear, sunny day!

I agree.  From the thumbnail it looks to me as though you have a nice result for coloration.  If it's just the texture of the top surface that is bothering you, you have options, including using more Realistic Water or WAter Effects to add the texture you want, or probably just using Mod Podge to give some texture.....

If it's the color that is not right for you, then over-painting what you have with acrylic probably won't cause any issues (but you ought to test that out since I have never tried the WS Realistic Water -- )

I have used GlossMedium and Envirotex as water, but not Realistic Water. Having seen Realistic Water I was not impressed with it, and heard that contrary to its statement, that it had creep worse than Envirotex.

For GlossMedium I have tinted it with acrylics and then applied it over unapproved areas and it worked well; It may work well here.

+1 on the pic being too small. I cant see what the issue is from that photo. Were you looking for shallow water, or the look of depth?  For depth I have generally used basic acrylic black house paint for the "depth" and then a 1/2" shoreline of some basic acrylic house tan paint.
