PRR Metroliner II EMU Liverys

[One of One-Sixty]

Here is 3 very very rough designs I came up with for my modern PRR Metroliner II EMU.  These are to fit the Metroliner as well as the Amfleet coach and cafe cars.  Each Metroliner EMU is made up of Metroliner as cab cars/propulsion and then Amfleet coach and cafe cars sandwich in between.  There are 3 different configurations, depending on need and what lines they are on.  They run in either 3 (P - C - P), 5 (P - C - Cafe - C - P) and 7 (P - C - C - Cafe - C - C - P) car configurations.

What do you think?

The first design is based off of the Amtrak Phase IV livery.

I would suggest something a little more like this...



The gold (or deluxe gold) would disappear if applied to a stainless steel background without some sort of darker color was behind it.  As for the rounded end... reminiscent of the South Wind scheme.

The rounded ends reminds me of the FOM (Fleet of Modernization) they used in the 1930s.

Bsklarski: No, you didnt miss the announcement, especially since there was never a real Metroliner II to begin with.  For my proto-freelance PRR the Metroliners was given a complete overhaul including converting all the parlor and cafe cars to trailing cars.

jmlaboda: Thats food for thought, with the gold not showing against the stainless steel background. 

Another thing I have been thinking about is should I change the PRR lettering as well as the outline of the keystone to white instead of the gold/yellow it is now.

I had the same thought regarding the pinstripes on the stainless.  Here's one idea that I had.  I'm learning Illustrator as I go on this, so the going's a bit slow.



One thing to keep in mind while designing fantasy schemes for a model is execution.  My scheme can be done with a mask, one color of paint, and MicroScale decals, assuming that the circled keystone intended for the BF-16 is big enough.

I already order the strips from Mircoscale, I was gonna paint the sides the Tuscan Red, but might use Microscale's Trim Film instead.

The only problem I have is finding Keystones that are not too orange.
