Whats the difference between the Pollyscale PRR Maroon and PRR Tuscan?

You need to be careful here, since the PRR's "Fleet of Modernism" used both a red and a maroon. Having said that, from the paint samples I did myself, Polyscale PRR Tuscan is very close to Accupaint Passenger Maroon, but lighter than Modelflex PRR Maroon. I don't have a sample of Polyscale PRR Maroon, but since the same paint manufacturers produce both colors, there may be some slight difference.

Edit: Polyscale PRR Tuscan comes very close to matching the PRRT&HS's reproduction of PRR Tuscan Red Passenger Enamel.

I would like to extend the question a bit.   My current knowledge about PRR colors is Polyscale  Zinc Chromate Primer for the older feight cars (similar to the MTL X32) and Polyscale Special Oxide Red for newer freight cars (e.g. all Bowser cars).  If I look at the MTL 20000 series PRR 40' box cars, they use a darker brown which looks similar to maroon/tuscan.  Would the colors discussed here be a useful stand-in?

Christoph:  I think you hit the nail on the head there.  With what Dave said about the PRR Tuscan being close to Tuscan Red, that could lead one to assume that PRR Maroon could actually be "Freight Car Color"?

I have no sure data about freight colors post 1954, but maybe the photos on this link will be of help. As far as I know brown would be off, but older Kodachromes were more sensitive to red and rendered the color a bit brighter.
