   What do I need to make this a BN 1000 series besides a paint job? I don't know how to attach a picture. Thanks

Looks like a beacon is all that's nessecary for the basics. Depends which loco and when, but I don't think Frisco added anything special to these units. (FWIW, All BN GP40-2s, MP15s, and B30-7s came from frisco)

Looks quite simple Dave, just paint and relocation of horn, addition of beacon and cab shades is all that I can see.
There may be other details but they don't jump out at me.

Anybody make that particular beacon - Federal Signal "Commander" - as a detail part? Sunrise was the only one I was aware of, and we know the story there.

I could use about 50 of them.

........................or you could just try and find a previous release from 2007. Atlas did it in three numbers 1000, 1001 and 1003.

I could use about 50 of them. 

Looks like they could be made by using some clear styrene and filed to shape. Paint the base black and use Tamaya clear amber paint for the dome.

Uhhhhh... actually, no. That would be an approximation at best. The Sunrise version (of 15 years ago) had the ribbing on the base. Here's a close-up:

from that shot, it looks like the base of the beacon is actually black with a silver rim on top; looks like BN must have used a piece of round metal painted black to hold the beacon in place

Or it could just have the base painted black, and you wouldn't see the detail. Here's a recent close-up from one of the UP E9's, where the base is painted yellow:



UP went crazy with these in the late '60's (my RR & era, which is why I need a bunch). Then the reality hit - the bulbs couldn't take the abuse of RR service, so they were phased out; I think they were gone by 1980 or so.
