OK, I am confused.

What is the difference between FVM wheel set 3302 and 3311?

They both read the same.

3311 is a "Wide Tread" wheel that FVM doesn't even list on their site anymore.  Not sure what the ultimate point of the "wide tread" would be outside of it being a lot more forgiving or poor trackwork as, with more tread, they wouldn't be likely to 'fall off' the rail if you had areas of wide gage.

3302 is the middle (ATL/IMR) axle length, narrow tread, 33" wheels.

3311 is the short (MTL) axle length, wide tread, 33" wheel

First two digits are the diameter (28", 33" or 36")
Third digit is wheel style (0-narrow tread, 1-wide tread)
Fourth digit is axle length (1-.540", 2-.553", 3-.563")

What site are you looking at that has the same description for these?

Peco has generally been OK, but the wide tread wheels work better on other old track like Shinohara with wide clearances through the frogs.  The narrow tread wheels will drop into these turnouts.  You can thank the Reid Bros and Bill Pistello for the development of the wide-tread wheels are their layouts have a lot of Shinohara track installed.  FVM rolling stock also comes with the wide tread wheels to insure carefree operation on all N scale track.

Every retailer I found online had the same axle-length description for both 3302 and 3311.  That includes Klein's, N Scale Supply, Feather River, etc

Hmm... They list 3310, 3311, and 3312 instead of the 3311, 3312, and 3313 that I would have expected.  The numbering convention must have changed for the wide treads.  Odd.

I ordered the 3302 because since I was so confused about what wheels to buy when I first bought them, I saved the package.
