A few days after moving into my dorms at Bennington, hurricane Irene swept through Vermont. On Tuesday I went up with a friend to check out the damage to the Bennington & Rutland line.

The Bridge in Arlington had one abutment washed into the river causing the bridge to drop a couple feet.

In Manchester, the water had washed over the trackage, leaving debris.

Further up in East Dorset, there was still water running over the ROW.

And a little further north was the largest washout we could see, though we were not able to get all the way to Rutland because of highway closures.
