If this is correct, 1997:

Were the cabless units B30-7A?

Ok, found them too:

These were newer than the B30-7s. Were running into this century for sure.

No photo evidence of these units lasting beyond 1996.  Their disadvantage was the use of the ARR-B trucks instead of the FB2 trucks found on many of these units.  This type of truck had a number of disadvantages when used iwth high horsepower units and it would appear that they were retired around the time that their trust expired.

These [cabless B30-7A(B)'s] were newer than the B30-7s. Were running into this century for sure.

Not on the BNSF.  I haven't nailed down a specific day, but the cabless B30-7A(B)'s were gone from service sometime in the May/June 1999 timeframe on the BNSF.   A few went to two regional/shortline roads, and the rest were either stored or sent to California for backup power generator duty. (at an Air Force base if I recall?)

I'll defer to you guys.

I guess the date on this page is incorrect or it was after retirement somewhere:

HERS and Lake State Railway also have B30-7ABs.  All owners can be found on this page...

I saw a few in a scrappers line in Portland, Oregon around that timeframe.
