Roadbed

Hi,

Has anybody used N scale cork roadbed for Z? I've heard different opinions and had to ask you pros.

I don't use cork myself, so I can't comment from direct experience; I use double-sided foam-lined adhesive tape. There is a maker of Z scale cork called IBL Products: http://www.iblproducts.com/

N scale cork should work also, assuming you cut it down.

Most Z Scalers use 1/2 of the N Scale Midwest cork roadbed. Some people prefer the Itty Bitty Lines cork, because it is thinner, like 3/64" thick or so, but midwest is the most economical.

I went with the Midwest N-scale cork for both of my modules, and I recommend it, especially if you're building Z-Bend Track compatible modules.  If you split the Midwest cork at the perforation, and cut both remaining sides down by about 1/8" to 1/4", it makes for a great side by side track bed.

If you can afford it, VinylBed is great to work with.  Our club modules have used a bunch of it.  It's precut and beveled, sized for Z, and very easy to work with.

Kez, I'm glad you the Midwest has worked for you. Like Pray says, it's more ecoomical.
