FYI....

Interestingly, this one has CTSE reporting marks.

For those not familiar, this represents a single car number from the "Chicago, Terre Haute and Southeast" subdivision. Nice to see these, since I live about 15 miles from this particular mainline. Currently being operated by the Indiana Railroad for unit coal trains from Terre Haute south with connections to current CSX (Former NYC & C&EI).

Argh! Where are the 50-footer short ribs?!

Probably not coming given that there are six physical variations on the existing models that share common parts, and the only component in common with a 50-footer is the brakewheel.  You can always kitbash one, or have one tooled.

Really? Wow, thanks for letting me know that. I feel so much better now.

Argh! Where are the 50-footer short ribs?!

Is this a long rib?

http://users.dwx.com/~jnjtrains/Aready/1278.jpg

Yes as the ribs extend all the way to the ends.  The short ribs (aka standard ribs) ended about 3 feet short of each end where the ladder and grabs begin. The 50 footers came in both single and double door configurations including a fair number of fairly useless cars with 6 foot doors and only a 50 ton capacity. There were also some rebuilt 50 footers created by adding 10 feet to the middle of a 40 foot car. On some of these they also stretched the doors by welding on extensions. Kinda ugly looking.

Best wishes

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
