Quality is so-so. I've come across a number of complains about ill-fitting components, missing parts, and obscure directions, which I also experienced first-hand, although some kits were fine. Don't know about the Thurmond kit. They are sold through some dealers, but several have dropped them owing to supply issues. They used to make several Z-scale kits, but they've since dropped their entire Z line, I imagine because they were their worst products.
