No they are knots.  Big ones and lots of them.  I had bought this sheet to stabilize the frontload washer I had put on a upper level of my house.  It never did work right so I had this left over.  I can do this whole layout with one sheet so I don't mind an extra $40 for a good sheet of something.  I'll be using cookie cuttter roadbed with risers off the frame so I'd like something I'll not have to worry about saggin or warping down the line and can support itself through a 16" span.

Here's a couple neat shots I pulled from e-bay listings.






I put a couple feelers out to see if any CGW guys have gathered any info for themselves.  The IC mow cars are a nice touch.  But I need to get my head around all the signals.  I don't need to include tham all, but it'd be nice to represent them in some functional way.  There's one signal at the opening of the tunnel with two lights side-by-side on top and a red aspect on the bottom.  I have no idea how that one works.

I didn't look through all 116 pages of photos, but it looks like you can run just about anything you like on this layout.

That's why I think it'll be a good show layout.  A lot better than me explaining everything there is to know about Waterloo IA. to a bunch of show goers.

I'm am missing a RI tie in so I may need to rethink the other side.  I just don't know how many other arrangements will give me the return loop.  But I don't want to give up the MSTL/CNW, SOO, MNS, GN/BN (I could mix in some TCW as well) that it's setup for right now.

Can't have it all I suppose.
