Replacement Windows for DPM Buildings, Etc.

Please remind me, who produces or produced decorated replacement windows for DPM buildings and the like? I think one outfit, who made really good ones, is no longer around. Anyone remember who that was?

Grandt line has some stuff in N scale that fits DPM openings, but I gather that's not what you are looking for.

How about Main Street Graphics - Window treatments for DPM and Walthers Kits? I remember them as an individual sheet of printed lettering, curtains, doors or blinds on thin acetate that you cut out & glue behind the DPM or Walthers wall sections. Packaged in plastic bag with blue paper folded /stapled over (instructions on back or inside).

Are you talking mullions and muttons or shutters and drapes?

For the DPM modular brick panels, I have used Grandt Line. They required a small amount of filing, but look quite good when pressed into the window hole and not just surface mounted.

I also have used some etch metal blinds from (drawing a blank here, but the company that does tons of etched metal details for n scale). and they looked good when painted white mounted inside the windows.

Main Street Graphics....that was it. Looks like they're no longer around. :(

Too bad, they had great looking decorated windows (i.e. painted-on signs/text).

I know I can do curtains and blinds, but I really want windows with signs printed right on the window like MSG did.

Anyone know of a different source?

How about your own PC?  You can purchase transparency sheets at Staples that work in a color laser, not sure about ink jet, but you can take your file down to Kinkos and have them run off for a nominal cost.

That's how I did the windows for my roundhouse...


If you're looking to do simple sign graphics that look applied to the glass, you can use the Word Art feature in MS Word to get the arched lettering or just about any other basic effect you're looking for.

Just monkey around with the sizing on paper, then when you have it right, print the transparency.  Very simple game!
