Definitely save the rolling stock scrutiny for another day.  I have a thought on the opposing grade conundrum that will be an exciting opportunity to assert yourself as the man of the house...  I'll post that in the layout thread...

Don't assume the ORER is correct.  :o
I've found plenty of instances over the years where the doors, IH, CAPY, you name it, that is visible in a prototype photo doesn't match what is listed in the ORER. BTW, ORER won't help with re-weigh dates, as it doesn't record LT WT's to begin with, much less shop dates of any kind. In the end, it only contains the info a freight agent would require to serve a customer: How much can I fill it, will the cargo fit through the door, is the car small enough to reach the spur, and is there anything in there to secure the load?
