Con Cor Electroliner in N ?

  I recieved my E mail newsletter from Con Cor, huge blowout on Auto Racks in N. There were photos of the HO Scale North Shore Electroliner train which will be here in mid June. Also nice You Tube Vid of the finished engineering model operating on the Elmhurst Model Railroad Club layout in Illinois. A very impressive model with a pancake flat motor under the floor so there is full interrior. Now for the possible disappointment. Un like the Aero Train,Pioneer Zephyr, amd UP M10000 Con Cor has never announced they would do this interuban beauty in N scale.I sure hope they do I would buy one in a heart beat even if they couldn't do the trolley poles so they can be used under live wire in N ,they can be on the HO train. Nate, I don't imagine there would be the demand for it in N-scale. Different scales have different appeals for products, and "price point" in N-scale is very critical. An Electroliner in N might sell great if is was under $200, but I can't think that would be realisitic, do you?

I was told by Mr. Conway at Trainfest that htey planned on following up with an N scale after the HO's were done and if the demand for HO was enought to dop the N scale version. He said that generally that N scale gets 60% of the sales that HO did and they had a ways to go. Hopefully they will and I think some would buy it because it is unique, but he was optimistic.

I would love to buy the HO version, but it is a little pricey.  The Electroliners also operated with 3rd rail pickup, so you could model sections without catenary and still be legit.

The odd thing is if MTL sold these and the other streamliners exactly as built by Con-Cor , the mindless zombie collector crowd would shuffle to their hobby shops hands outstretched with open wallets and bugged out eyes totally stripping every supply of them no-mater the volume made . These deserve collector status , and in the future should be fetching a decent buck if anybody is willing to part with theirs .

There are a whole bunch of mindless zombie Con-Cor collectors out there also. Most of them just won't raise their hand and admit it. I have seen quite a few collections in train rooms of fake woodgrain boxed passenger sets.

And people are still buying/trading them at shows. I will admit that I do like the NYC Pacemaker set though. Won't buy it, but it looks cool.

 Yes like my storage closet full of them,as a passenger train buff where was I going to get trains in obscure roads or less popular like Monon for example,and yes I wished that some were more accurate car wise ,but as Con Cor explained they would try and duplicate the consists with what existing cars they had, which were mostly the GN modeld Smooth side cars, or Rivarossi heavy weights, or corrugated cars. I know that I was the person behind the creation of two of the sets. I wrote (pre e mail days) and suggested Missouri Pacific MP included photos and pointed out that MP had PA1 diesels. About a month and a half later there was the announcement that they were doing MP. Later I had an even more indepth article from Passenger Train Journal about the Katy/Frisco Texas Special,and I realized the Rivarossi corrugated cars would be good stand ins also the obs car was a near match. Sure enough Con Cor did this train,but to my disappointment created their own obs car by taking their CZ dome obs car, replacing the roof from the smoothside GN car .They did use the corrugated cars for the rest of the train. No I do not believe that just myself was responsible for these sets there may have been others also interested who also wrote in. If I was a true collector I would be upset over the devaluing of these sets by Con Cor's releasing open stock versions in the 1990's of some of these paint schemes,MP,NP(should have been open stock to begin with) ,and IC come to mind. Of course the printing and lettering are much improved. Some of these sets were done to match all the Lifelike E unit schemes. Nate Goodman (Nato).

A Rohr Turboliner, that's the product they should do in N. Well, Rapido should do it instead, in N, along with the Turbo Train, in N.

 I would like to see Athearn do the Utah Transit Authority paint schemes on their existing commutter diesel,they have done the Bomb Logenze cars in our Front Runner scheme,but so far no loco unlike New Mex Rail Runner which has a loco. I can live with the fact that the EMD loco is not really an MPI loco. Comet cars would also be nice as UTA Front Runner purchased some used from NJT which thay have been reconditioning and adding to the consists of rush hour trains. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Guys, you have no idea about the Con-cor collectors out there! We liquidated an estate of TONS of Con-Cor sets and individual boxcars. ONE GUY bought over 50 Con-Cor(Kato) boxcars, and called and begged if we had more. You know the new Express Mail (servicemens' box)? With some bubble-pak for protection it was as full as it could have been. I charged him actual shipping, and that box weighed close to 20 lbs, but it's "flat-rate".

The Electroliner was the ultimate high speed interurban, and I am thankful I had the opportunity to ride on from Chicago to Milwaukee and again from Chicago to Kenosha. Yes it used a third rail on the CTA elevated around the "loop".

BUT, how many of y'all are aware that the two units were painted bright red with broad white stripes, renamed "LibertyLiners", and ran for another decade on the old "Pig & Whistle" from Phila. 69th St. to Norristown?

Problem with that is that it will be twice the cost of anything else on the market.
