I am making a little progress on my lower level staging yard...

This week saw some progress on some rolling stock projects that have been laying dormant for awhile.

First, I finished painting up some automobiles for loading on the MT tri-levels I have,




I also took care of some unfinished business on my steam excursion train, adding Gold Medal drop steps and and a few other details.  Still working on getting the lettering done...


An ancient kitbash. From a Model Power/Lima combine. More or less follows WM style, but terribly accurate.  It's pretty rough, but it's one of those early projects I just can't bring myself to part with...


Not an accurate model, but a reasonable representation until something better comes along. Added Gold Medal Models railings and steps. The silver roof indicates that the car is air conditioned.

And of course, to drag it around, the K-2

Side rods and wheels blackened... with a... (wait for it)... Sharpie marker!

And last but not least, I finally girded my loins to attack another Life Like switcher.  Another one for the Bufkin Collection, complete with rear headlight...


I've got two more of these dogs to do...

Now it's time to go up and run them all for a bit!

I made the mistake of reading an old copy of Model Railroader magazine and this kinda happened all by itself  ;D





At least I found a use for that Chessie Geep shell 

It's all a bit crappy at the moment and needs details and fans drilling out,exhaust etc and it needs a nose and probably other stuff I don't know about  ;D

No photos but I managed to change bodies on a couple jeeps.  Now have 2 Reading GP7's (in the older black paint courtey of Atlas's body sale) with decoders installed and working.  And Lee, I was running my other SW's today.  Still can't get the Trainmaster to work.  Lights switches directon but no movement.

Sounds like the motor contacts have lost their grip.  Is that the Reading one I did for you?

After mocking up a rough test section I built a couple of 4' long x 8" deep sections to test lighting, deck spacing etc.  1/4" plywood with a 1/8" hardboard deck.



Here's a photo of the lighting installation.



So far I believe this construction style and section dimensions will work fine for my needs.

met a friend (Eric White) from the A-Forum and invited him for a visit while he was in town over the weekend... a fellow PRR rivet counter (to a degree)... he stopped over and brought some motive power from his home road... I spent my weekend washing down locomotives... the 611 and 1218, giving the RS3 300, C630 1135 and 1776 some much needed TLC.

My dad was out at the museum over the weekend and said 611 and 1218 were pretty dirty!  At least someone still cares.

"Rivet counter?"  I believe the term I used was "Rivet estimator."  I'm a lot better than I used to be, but I can't hold a candle to some of the guys here and over at Atlas.  Here's a few more photos of my GG-2's visit to Eric's layout.  All layout and rolling stock credit to Eric Payne!







For those of you who don't know me from the Atlas Forum, I model an alternate history of the PRR.  By 1905, the PRR had continuous operations from New York to San Francisco, and had its own line between the two cities by 1920.  In that case, a meeting with an SP Daylight would have been common.

Installed three more turnout controls, two sidings, installed another decoder in an F-7 (someones home but doesnt know how to conserve energy) and tacked together a freight distributor.

I built most of an N scale house.  I also played volleyball on the beach and went sailing, so the fact that I got that much done is rather amazing.



Next weekend my best friend is getting married, so I won't get anything done.

Decided to go to the gym for an hour while I was at work - Got called out for a felony arrest.
Finish arrest, go back to gym - Got called out for a 4 person domestic with a firearm involved; felony arrest
Take arrest to NHSP Troop E for booking, - Get called out for a suspicious person that turned out to be a drunk 19yo who got his a$$ HANDED to him in a fight at a friends house. Go to said house for interviews, arrest mother for assault on a police officer, make entry yadda yadda arrests.
-Scheduled out at 2300, pull into driveway home on call at 0530. ;D

Friday
Attempted burglary in Ossipee, make 2 felony arrests.

Got the air brakes and air clutch installed in the A car and have them working really well. Mocking up the former York air conditioner compressor to change it in to a fan belt driven air compressor. The T-16 air brake chambers are very easy to work with. Adding backup T-30 spring brake chamber to the system to activate brakes if complete loss of air in the main reservoir and emergency tank happens.

Traded my bronze 1950's EMD bell for a 1980's EMD steel bell.

Picked up some more locos an finalized part of the track plan around Newfound Lake in the towns of Hebron and Bridgewater, NH. Long CR freights are gonna look sweet moving along edges of this lake
