Darn you Atlas!

Darn you Atlas for making these super-nice C40-8's...  This completely upsets all of my plans. It is now conceivable to model TWO periods/railroads I really like - with fine running locomotives. 

Conrail around 1992-1993 - when I did most of my railfanning.  And the messy error on CSXT - new C40's, but lots of Chessie and Seaboard units floating around in their awful patches and mismatched paint.

The Conrail idea has always been a proto-freelanced "Susquehanna District" from Allentown to Williamsport and then across PA. The CSXT idea has been something around the ex-C&O in West Virginia - lots of coal and paper traffic.

Now I'm torn again. Since the wife says we're moving to a lower tax state in eight years, I need to get moving here before my basement changes.

Don't feel alone. I've got two of the NS C40's, and I'm thinking about what to do with the ATSF that I model.

Just when I thought that I had all my engine needs covered, these appear, and based on my two, they are NICE locos.

Good thing DRGW didn't have any..............or I would be in BIG trouble

Got to a point and couldn't see where it was going...  It was a good move in that a lot of western stuff got sold off, along with some duplicates of Eastern stuff.  There is one particular scene in Switzerland I'd like to model, Goeshenen station, but it could be done in doortop layout format.

I still have too much stuff here - 20 years of purchasing with no real idea behind it.

Good thing it's just a hobby!

I myself have been blessed with a complete lack of curiosity in this regard - Tehachapi or bust.  Too bad I didn't pick up some of your western "stuff" when you were selling...

Atlas got me again with those 1932 AAR boxcars. Louisiana & Arkansas, Erie (1932) and SAL. MTL got me this month too with the Standard Oil of Indiana (Amoco) tank car and the C&NW reefer. There seems to be plenty for steam era modelers coming out, except steam locomotives!

A little FYI on that CNW MT car.  If it's a reprint of the previous 7 (with the added hinge and ladder paint) then it has a shop date in the 60's. 

The best I can tell from the books I have and photos online, the CNW started painting these cars into the green/yellow in the mid 50's (like '54).
